SEE THE FULL STORY

Our goal
To expand access to education and nutrition for children living in the UN Dzaleka Refugee Camp.
The Challenge

Many kids at the Camp do not have access to education or even meals. COVID is making it worse.

Malawi hosts nearly 40,000 refugees seeking asylum from conflicts in Burundi, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Somalia and the Democratic Republic of Congo, at the Dzaleka Refugee Camp created by the United Nations in 1994 for people fleeing genocide, violence and war.

Unfortunately, most of the 9,000 young people at the Camp still lack access to school, sufficient food, or job opportunities. Step by step, we are helping to change this reality for these youths.
Fraternity without Borders is working to shelter children at the Camp among other areas of social risk, and their efforts depends on the donations received across the globe.

Yet the global COVID-19 pandemic has acted to increase demand for this support and simultaneously reduced donations to FwB.

Our Solution

‘Ubuntu Nation’ project: Building classrooms to build a new world.

Education is one of the key principles to solving public health issues. Fraternity without Borders created the Ubuntu Nation project to provide education, nutrition, vocational training and workshops utilizing the Ubuntu mentality. They bought land and started building a community center with a school that currently supports 200 children and their families. To support more children and their health, we are going to build 2 new classrooms that are painted, equipped with supplies, and ran by solar

Your Impact

Your donation will have a direct positive impact on the lives of at least 70 children

Together, we can help these very young children gain access to education and meals offered at the expanded school. Because education is a gateway to opportunity, hundreds of additional lives will be touched. Want to change the world? Let’s go! We invite you to join us and become part of Ubuntu Nation!

$25,000 Campaign Booster Funding

This displays the maximum incremental additional funding the campaign could receive (Maximum Funding Amount (MFA) less Minimum Funding Goal)). For example, if the MFA is $100,000 and the MFG $10,000, it would show the difference of $90,000 here.
