let's work together to

create a future keeping Nigerian girls in school, period!

Our goal
We want to keep Nigerian girls in school who are missing from classroom because of their period.
The Challenge

Girls in Nigeria are deprived of an education because of their period

Education is a basic human right, however millions don’t have access to such luxury. I can’t fathom a life without an education. A life without one is being trapped in one’s own mind & life. That’s no way for anyone to live. It's already hard being born a girl & being a girl from a third world country (Jamaica). I know firsthand of the added challenges children face, especially girls. Despite it all, it was clear to me that education would be my gateway to a better life.

Our Solution

WASH libraries & access to feminine care products will help students stay in school

In Africa, according to UNESCO, one in ten girls miss school during menstruation, which eventually leads to a higher dropout rate. Programs will provide girls with the necessary menstrual products to manage their periods in a safe environment & enables them to attend school even during their periods. Students are provided menstrual hygiene products and education by creating a network of female entrepreneurs and boosting female economic status.

According to UNICEF “clean water, basic toilets & good hygiene practices are essential for the survival & development of children”. At present, about 2.4 billion people do not have the knowledge to use improved sanitation, and about 663 million people do not have access to clean water sources. HDI improves water & sanitation services and basic hygiene practices to respond to the essentials of Nigerian children and ensure that they are provided with basic human needs.

Your Impact

By donating 5,000 pennies ($50) you can give a girl the chance to be in school for a year

A study by the World Bank found that, in 2010, 52.5% of out-of-school children worldwide were female. Your donation will help with the distribution of sanitary pads & underwear. According to UNICEF “clean water, basic toilets & good hygiene practices are essential for the survival & development of children”. Your donation will assist more than 50% of our students washing their hands with water and soap.
