All babies deserve to be clean, dry, and healthy
Living in extreme poverty, most Haitian mothers are forced to choose between food & diapers. This has devastating consequences not only for basic sanitation and hygiene, but also on the empowerment of mothers. Diapers are an overlooked, yet so crucial basic need.
Cloth diapers will improve quality of life for child and caregiver
Providing 12 cloth diapers to poverty-stricken mothers in Haiti would reduce infant mortality rates drastically, leave mothers more money to feed the whole family, and decrease the number of mothers suffering with anxiety and depression from worrying about their children's health. Overtime, this would leave to a healthier population of people who could cater other needs in the community.
Cloth diaper kits are distributed when Mothers and babies return to the Maternal Health Clinic for a Well Mom & Baby checkup. At this checkup, infections (leading cause of maternal death) are caught earlier, and breastfeeding is evaluated. By ensuring both Mom & baby are healthy, maternal & infant survival rates are increased.
By donating as little as $10, you will help children have a better quality of life
As families have their diaper needs solved, they are able to save funds and plan for future improvements in their child's care. This can mean attending educational programs, better healthcare, improved quality of food (more protein!) - all steps that set these babies up for long term survival and productive members of society.
