Too many girls in rural Kenya and Senegal don't have access to reproductive health information.
In rural areas of Senegal and Kenya, it’s all too common for a girl to drop out of school due to an unplanned pregnancy or serious illness. But together, we can offer hundreds of marginalized girls the opportunity to attend locally-developed reproductive health workshops to give girls the knowledge—and power—to avoid early pregnancy and preventable disease, to excel in school, and make their own informed health decisions. Quality health education can truly transform lives!
Every girl deserves the chance to stay healthy and go to school.
Locally-developed health education workshops can save girls' lives.
Our targeted workshops and seminars are developed in close partnership with local organizations to be culturally relevant, effective and interactive. These workshops cover critically important topics that affect adolescent girls like anatomy, puberty and development, STIs, contraception and family planning, consent, and healthy decision-making.
Our scholars frequently express how valuable this service has been to their long-term success. WGEP Kenya scholar Jacklyn says of the workshops: "I learned so much that I never knew before. I feel now that I have the knowledge I need to stay healthy and safe." WGEP Senegal scholar Sadio says: "I am so thankful for everything I learned. I now want to continue my education and become a nurse so that I can help the women of my village."
WGEP scholars take part in a recent workshop.
Your donation will empower a girl to stay healthy and achieve her dreams.
Health education is a powerfully sustainable intervention. Your support equips a girl with knowledge she has for life, and she can use this to promote healthy decision making among others, as well. Your donation will help a girl focus on her studies and excel in her schoolwork. Supporting our project will not just ensure that girls in school stay healthy and safe – you will personally help open up the entire world of possibilities for girls after they graduate.
