Indigent families cannot afford medical care for premature babies
About 1,000,000 kids die every year before age 5 in India. (source - UNICEF mortality rates data). Almost 50 percent of these deaths take place within 30 days of birth. Poverty and not being able to pay for basic medical care is one of the reasons for this.
Babies born premature and who have low birth weight need critical medical care to help them survive. The costs of care at NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) facilities are high. As a result, families that cannot afford to pay for the treatment are faced with tough choices and might not be able to provide for the critical care needed for the baby. This can lead to death.
Funds donated will pay for treatment of sick babies
Some parents are forced to decide between saving 1 sick child by selling their properties or home vs giving up on the sick child to preserve a roof and food for rest of family. It is a hard situation for families to be in. Ekam's goal is "No parent should feel guilty of not providing treatment for their children". Ekam's team works on identifying patients in need. These donations will help babies in need of vital care.
By donating just $50, you can help save lives
Ekam will use your donations to cover costs associated with providing critical care for infants. This will give families in need of financial help a life line and help improve mortality rates.
20%-Ekam Corpus Fund
This displays the maximum incremental additional funding the campaign could receive (Maximum Funding Amount (MFA) less Minimum Funding Goal)). For example, if the MFA is $100,000 and the MFG $10,000, it would show the difference of $90,000 here.
67%-More kids supported
33%-More meds provided
