41,000 Men and Women Die from Metastatic Breast Cancer every year and this number hasn't changed
41,000 Men and Women Die from Metastatic Breast Cancer every year in the US, this number hasn't changed in the past 40 years. 30% of early stage breast cancer will recur as metastatic and 6-10% of cases are De Novo (metastatic upon diagnosis). 98% of people diagnosed with Metastatic Disease will die from it and yet it only receives 5% of Breast Cancer Funding. Young researchers are leaving the field because of a lack of funding and good quality research proposals are currently going unfunded.
The current life expectancy is around 24 months depending on the subtype of (MBC) Metastatic Breast Cancer. There are certain groups whom are disproportionately impacted. More young women and young mothers are being diagnosed with more aggressive forms of the disease. Men are often misdiagnosed. African Americans are disproportionately impacted at a rate of 37%. 1,000 women under 40 die every year from MBC and 114 people die a day. More research must be done on metastatic disease.
Fund the Research through METAvivor Research and Support, Inc.
We do not have any time to wait. We can transition MBC from a terminal to a chronic disease with more research. METAvivor has an excellent Scientific Review Process to ensure quality research is being funded and we need to make sure the money is there.
100% of the Donation will go Directly to Research
By donating to METAVIVOR, 100% of the money will go directly to find research grants.
