Hands on Peru (HOP) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, founded in 2013 as a response to the deep inequities in healthcare in northern Peru. Co-founded by two global health advocates who are developing a new model of care that focuses on prevention, promotion, and education of health, while using the passion and the drive of university students from around the world, including students from Peru. This model is called "CESAPU" - located in a small peri-urban community called "Villa Los Angeles" in Huanchaco, Peru.
Staffed by a team of local professionals and international volunteers, CESAPU aims to tackle at the very core, in a very practical sense, some of the most common cultural, social, and emotional barriers to SDG #3: good health and wellbeing. CESAPU has designed 9 grassroots- style interactive community programs that focus on building community capacity. We have an innovative approach to health & human development that focuses on social determinants of health.
