Help Provide COVID-19 Relief to the Navajo Nation (Diné)

The Navajo Nation has the third-highest rate of COVID-19 infection in the US and is vulnerable.
The Navajo have been vulnerable during the COVID-19 pandemic due to health disparities, lack of COVID-19 education, and a scarcity of potable water for hand-washing. There is an imminent threat of starvation due to the lock down and limited food sources on the reservation. There is a shortage of hospital staff and medical supplies, and the Navajo, like other Native Nations in the U.S., have to apply for assistance from the CDC and then wait in line (unlike States).
Emergency supplies must be delivered immediately and in a safe manner to prevent virus transmission.
Funds from this campaign will be used to purchase and distribute emergency supplies (COVID-19 educational materials, personal protective equipment, food, water, vitamins, baby and personal hygiene supplies, etc.) These will be assembled as care packages and delivered to the Navajo in Shiprock, New Mexico, and surrounding areas by local Native grassroots organizations. The care packages will be delivered by volunteers equipped (wearing masks) so as to prevent further spread of the disease.
Your donation will help to protect and sustain a vulnerable population during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Your donation will provide for the purchase and delivery of vital supplies needed to protect and sustain Navajo families (esp. the disabled and home bound) and volunteers assisting them during the COVID-19 outbreak. Personal protective equipment (e.g. masks, gloves), sanitizers and COVID-19 educational materials, delivered in a safe manner, will help prevent the spread of the virus. Other supplies will provide for basic needs and promote overall health and well-being.

This displays the maximum incremental additional funding the campaign could receive (Maximum Funding Amount (MFA) less Minimum Funding Goal)). For example, if the MFA is $100,000 and the MFG $10,000, it would show the difference of $90,000 here.

Ahéhee' Tʼáá íiyisíí ahéheeʼ! (Thank you, in Diné/Navajo)
Feb 12
Thanks to our generous donors, Arrows 501(c)(3), in partnership with local native-led grassroots organizations, including Indian Country Grassroots and the Northern Diné COVID Relief Effort (NDCVRE), was able to provide COVID relief at a critical juncture, during the second COVID spike. At that time there were 12 uncontrolled spreads.
The efforts of the grassroots organizations on the ground have been nothing less than amazing. NDCVRE is a community coalition that brought together community stakeholders and volunteer service groups, government, and the private sector to provide COVID relief to communities in Shiprock, NM, and the surrounding area (~12,000 people). They identified homebound and other vulnerable members of the community and prioritized safe delivery of vital supplies to these community members.
Your donations were used to provide for delivery of supplies, including baby essentials, commodities/produce, cleaning supplies and PPEs. Donations also paid for delivery of an electric pallet mover and diesel for a refrigerated truck, travel expenses and food for for volunteers, printing, duplicating and distribution of COVID safety booklets, and for a hotline service.
All of the funds have been dispensed with the exception of a small amount ($400) put aside to help purchase a drone (within the next few months) which will assist in finding youth who have run away during to the pandemic. One such youth was recently found sleeping under a bush in a ravine in a remote area. This emergency need was brought to our attention in October 2020.
We appreciate you. May you walk with beauty before, behind, below, above and all around you.
