Young girls lack access to education in health
62 million girls worldwide are out of school depriving them of essential skills needed for independence and for them to contribute to community development. In rural areas of Senegal and Kenya, it’s all too common for a girl to drop out of school due to an unplanned pregnancy or serious illness. But together, we can reduce absences from school by equipping adolescent girls with reproductive health knowledge, disease prevention, and healthy decision making skills.
Absences will be reduced when young girls are equipped with knowledge and skills in health education
WGEP offers comprehensive reproductive health education to lower incidences of HIV & teen pregnancy. Our targeted workshops and seminars inform scholars on a range of important topics including: anatomy, puberty & development, sexually transmitted infections, contraception and family planning, consent and decision-making.
Our scholars frequently express how valuable this service has been to their long-term success. WGEP Kenya scholar Jacklyn says of the workshops: "I learned so much that I never knew before. I feel now that I have the knowledge I need to stay healthy and safe." WGEP Senegal scholar Sadio says: "I am so thankful for everything I learned. I now want to continue my education and become a nurse so that I can help the women of my village."
Our workshops on reproductive health, STI and HIV prevention, and gender-based violence give girls the knowledge and skills they need to stay healthy and avoid dropping out of school. Our scholars have fewer health-related absences, and 100% of them went on to the next grade level in 2017.
Together we can empower young girls to have a brighter future for themselves
Help US give these girls a future to look forward to. Help US be the reason they succeed. Help US help THEM become leaders! Health education is a powerfully sustainable intervention. Your support equips a girl with knowledge she has for life, and she can use this to promote healthy decision making among others, as well. Your donation will help a girl focus on her studies and excel in her schoolwork. You will personally help open up the entire world of possibilities for girls after they graduate

This displays the maximum incremental additional funding the campaign could receive (Maximum Funding Amount (MFA) less Minimum Funding Goal)). For example, if the MFA is $100,000 and the MFG $10,000, it would show the difference of $90,000 here.
