Our goal
Create one-of-a-kind songs of love for at least 10 kids struggling with life-threatening or debilitating circumstances
The Challenge

Thank you for visiting!

Millions of children, like Logan above, are dealing with life-threatening illness and disabilities every day, such as cancer, HIV/AIDS, cerebral palsy and diabetes, to name only a few. Children not only have to face their illness, but also have to deal with their own fear, loss of lifestyle, absence from school and separation from family, friends and school.  Songs of Love invented a unique service for these children – helping them cope with serious illness, disabilities or even emotional distress by distracting them from pain while lifting their spirits.

Cost effective and lasting forever, a “song of love” is a personalized song, professionally recorded in the child’s favorite style of music and preferred language, with lyrics celebrating their favorite activities and the people they love.  Engaging these children through song uplifts, calms, heals and encourages a love for music.  Songs of Love has produced over 27,000 one-of-a-kind songs of love and needs your help to touch the lives of more children!

Your contribution will help cover any operating costs associated with song production, such as CD supplies, postage, printing, staffing, and website expenses - every $250 allows us to create one song.

Healthcare professionals and social workers “prescribe songs of love,” as they see how children enjoy them and often sing along with their songs during treatments.  Parents, grandparents and guardians also can request the service.  Using a Song Request Form completed by the child, family and healthcare providers, a song is commissioned containing all the activities, things and people the child loves.  Songs of Love receives physical Song Request Forms via mail and fax, as well as through the Songs of Love website - submission is simple!  The information results in a tailor-made, professionally produced song, recorded onto a CD with printed lyrics (like Logan's and Paxton's!) in addition to the mp3 file. The songs are unobtrusive and can be taken wherever the child goes.

By providing a personalized song, free of charge, to a child or teen currently facing tough medical, physical or emotional challenges, Songs of Love improves the mental and emotional health of not only that child, but also his or her family.  Often, families report that they see their child responding, smiling and laughing for the first time in months.

Just take it from Paxton's family:

"From the second we heard the intro to Paxton's song we were hooked! We were truly astounded at the job Dominick Barone did producing it, the lyrics, the beat, the chorus, incorporating Paxton's hobbies, family and catch phrase, just wow. Blown away, I'm telling ya!

Truthfully I had expected a very generic song that was used for every kid and just had their names and phrases inserted. So when we listened to Paxton's song and wanted to rock out to it, we couldn't believe our ears!

It is a definite morale boost and memory to be treasured forever. I even find myself singing it out loud or having it playing in my head. We LOVE Paxton's song and love to share it. Everyone has thought it was so cool and Paxton talks about it all the time. It was catchy and accurate for Pax and I seriously can't stress enough how impressed we were with it.

We are so thankful to have had such an awesome thing done for our sweet, rocking boy. It brought tears to my eyes listening to it the first time. My son is a badass and he will beat this cancer. This song really helped to reaffirm that for us!

Thank you all, everyone who was involved with this song making and everyone who is involved with this whole organization. I never would have thought this would have been an opportunity we would have gotten.

Our family, too, believes heavily in the healing properties of music and it plays a very BIG role in our daily life, especially Paxton. When we go to his appointments he's nervous and anxious but he plugs into his iPod and chills out with some Lamb of God, System of a Down, Primus, or Red Hot Chili Peppers, you name it. It helps him to escape his reality of pokes, surgeries, injections, sickness, etc; it heals him, I truly believe that. We know the therapeutic benefits of music.

This is such a great organization and we didn't even know it existed. We are looking forward to helping you get your name out there even more, bless you all, each and every one!

Love the Hunter Family;

Kelly, Eric, Paxton and Zyla

Mr. Kitty, Darwin and Jade too"

Or from the research:

An article by Amy Novotney in the November 2013, Vol 44, No. 10 issue of Monitor on Psychology states that "A wealth of new studies is touting the benefits of music on mental and physical health. For example, in a meta-analysis of 400 studies, Levitin and his postgraduate research fellow, Mona Lisa Chanda, PhD, found that music improves the body's immune system function and reduces stress. Listening to music was also found to be more effective than prescription drugs in reducing anxiety before surgery (Trends in Cognitive Sciences, April, 2013)."

Or from two of the hundreds of social workers and child life specialists that refer many children to Songs of Love:

According to Angela Drake, a health worker at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey, “Young children have endured invasive treatments without the use of anesthetics, thanks to the comfort their songs provide them.  One girl sings her song with me while she’s having spinal taps done.”

Siri Bream, a certified Child Life Specialist from the Children’s Hospital of Richmond, VA, states, "Songs of Love is such an invaluable gift for our children and families that counteracts and comforts any of the fear, anger or grief that an illness or injury brings. The healing power of music is huge, but the power of feeling validated, of being honored, of being important enough to have a song that is entirely all about YOU, gives our patients a sense of belonging in this world, a sense of hope, a renewed purpose and determination to LIVE”.
