Bay Area citizens lack basic necessities such as food during to the Coronavirus pandemic
In the midst of the Covid-19 crisis, there is a significant financial impact on many residents, and that is challenging affordability for food and other necessities. More than 26 million Americans have recently been unemployed due to this pandemic leaving hunger as a problem unfurling at rapid speeds. This has increased the number of people reaching out to food banks.
In the food banks, the demand for food has increased, and the lines have increased to twice as long with people waiting in line for several hours. Food banks are struggling to meet the need for so many people. Food insecurity is a major concern for Americans at this time. Almost 800,000 bay area residents are experiencing food insecurity of the total population of 7.15 million people living in the bay area.
Furthermore, senior citizens and people with disabilities are struggling to put food on the table and experience relatively higher rates of food insecurity. They are unable to shop for groceries also. The severity of this issue will continue to increase if we don’t start taking action now.
Collaborating with Open Heart Kitchen to supply food for our hungry population
Open Heart Kitchen is a Tri-Valley situated organization committed to serving people in need of free and nutritious meals. Even during these frantic times, the community’s health, well-being and security is Open Heart Kitchen’s highest priority. They have stepped up to the unprecedented demand, created by the financial downturn, with the unrelenting dedication and utmost care.
During the Coronavirus lockdown, they even have continued to provide free lunches to seniors by offering curbside pick up in community centers and senior homes. However, they cannot accomplish their mission by themselves. With more donations from you, Open Heart Kitchen is able to widen their reach and help more communities in need, which is especially needed for soothing hunger during this pandemic.
Even the smallest donation, as little as $3, can provide a meal for one person
Your donations can create a significant impact towards the Tri-Valley community. Open Heart serves over 328,000 meals per year. That is about 3,000 meals per week not including 2,650 weekly bagged lunches that kids take home for the weekend.A $100 will allow 50 people to have a hot meal, $500 will pay for bag lunch meals for 200 children, and $1000 will provide a hot meal to 125 families in need. Please help by giving a gift of a meal. Together, we can make a difference!
98%-For funding Open Heart Kitchen
2%-For Stripe processing fees
This displays the maximum incremental additional funding the campaign could receive (Maximum Funding Amount (MFA) less Minimum Funding Goal)). For example, if the MFA is $100,000 and the MFG $10,000, it would show the difference of $90,000 here.
