Underprivileged children living in the Philadelphia area need essential school supplies.
School is going to look different this year. But no matter where learning is taking place or what their situation, kids will always need supplies to feel empowered and ready to learn.
• 55% of low-wage workers with young children reported someone in the household had been laid off since March 16, 2020.
• As more families struggle to afford essentials like food and rent, spending an average of $320 a year on school supplies is unrealistic and unaffordable.
• 21% of students did not participate in school from Mar-May 2019, due to disruptions to routine and school services.
We can help provide Philadelphia area kids with learning supplies they need for school this fall.
To help alleviate the effects of the recent health crisis on student development, the Johnson & Johnson Self Care organization, in partnership with the AALC, is collaborating with Cradles to Crayons to be part of their Ready for Learning program. Cradles to Crayons will distribute new, age-appropriate, critical learning supplies through their network of social service partners to ensure our local community of kids have everything they need to feel ready to learn this fall.
A donation of just $20 will supply a brand new backpack and school supplies to a child who needs one, and keep it filled with learning essentials throughout the year. Backpacks Include: Two Folders, 1 Composition Notebook, 1 Spiral Notebook, 2 Glue Sticks, 1 Ruler, 24 Pack of Crayons, 1 Pencil Case and 10 Pencils. Providing kids with essentials they need for learning is critical to helping them keep up and stay engaged, now more than ever.
Education can lead to better jobs, higher earnings and more resources for good health.
Your donation of just $20 will supply a brand new backpack and school supplies to a child in need.
Your donation will directly impact the lives of 300 children, while also supporting the 2020 Ready for Learning campaign this summer, which has a goal of providing more than 30,000 backpacks full of school supplies to children in need.

This displays the maximum incremental additional funding the campaign could receive (Maximum Funding Amount (MFA) less Minimum Funding Goal)). For example, if the MFA is $100,000 and the MFG $10,000, it would show the difference of $90,000 here.
