Our goal
Survey the health/awareness of girl students &educate them on adolescent health & personal hygiene.
The Challenge

Many girls in India lack access to period products and basic education on menstruation.

Educating India’s girls about menstruation and ending the existing culture of shame requires a multifaceted approach. First, you have to get the products, volunteers, and funds to be able to educate the adolescents and provide the products another issue is getting people talking and tackling period-based taboos. When schools have the right facilities and education materials, they can help girls manage their periods with dignity and confidence.

Our Solution

Simple classes on menstruation can transform a girl's future and erase some stigma around periods.

The program will provide teaching of adolescent health topics to girl students in Government-aided schools. The specific objectives are to teach the students on: nutrition & health, personal hygiene, adolescent sexual & reproductive health, water-sanitation, and their environment.

The first day will introduce the educators and they will begin to teach about changes in the body- this will include psycho social changes, pubertal changes, and the process of growing up. The second day will cover reproductive health; female reproductive organs, menstruation, menstrual hygiene, using sanitary napkins, then debunking myths about periods. The third day will discuss nutrition & health; factors affecting nutrition other than food (lifestyle disease and risk factors).

The fourth day focuses on personal hygiene, staying healthy, and the social determinants of health. The fifth day discusses adolescent sexual & reproductive health, child marriage, and sexually transmitted diseases (RTI/STI HIV/AIDS. The last day teaches the girls about water safety at home, disposal of wastewater, and protection of water sources in the community.

Your Impact

This program of training will empower the girls, then improve their health and hygiene

This program of training will strengthen the skills and competencies of the adolescent girl students and thereby improve their health and hygiene. The expected outcomes include: healthy eating habits, better knowledge on personal hygiene, menstrual hygiene, and sex education.

$2,000 Minimum Funding Goal
  • 50%-Training camps

  • 25%-Menstrual Products

  • 25%-Nutrition education

$4,000 Campaign Booster Funding

This displays the maximum incremental additional funding the campaign could receive (Maximum Funding Amount (MFA) less Minimum Funding Goal)). For example, if the MFA is $100,000 and the MFG $10,000, it would show the difference of $90,000 here.

  • 50%-More camps

  • 37%-More girls reached

  • 13%-More volunteers
