Our goal
We want to create trained, sensitive minority nurses who respond to community health needs.
The Challenge

Creating Support Systems for Our Students

Mentoring is an essential ingredient for career success and it promoted greater inclusion for women of color in the healthcare field. The need for greater minority representation in nursing as the national population becomes more diverse is well documented. For example, nurses that speak the same language, understand the culture, values and beliefs of their patients may provide better care (IOM: 2002, 739). Increasing the potential for underrepresented minorities to enter a nursing career.

Our Solution

Diversity in Nursing gives patients robust and meaningful care

There is a well-documented need for greater minority representation in nursing as the national population becomes more diverse. It is important to have a racially diverse nursing workforce because nurses who can speak the same language, understand the culture, values, and beliefs of their patients may provide better care (IOM 2002, 739). Increasing the route for underrepresented minorities to enter the nursing workforce will address the health care disparities that plague our healthcare systems.

Your Impact

Your donation helps not just the Student, but the family

Since 2006, The Institute of Wonderful Women Working for Empowerment has assisted 172 students with scholarships, mentoring, coaching and internships, 80% of which single parents with children under 18. IWWWE , with the help of your donations, has provided more than $120,000 to students meeting the challenge of a better life. Your donation empowers our proteges to complete their education and elevate the standard of living for their families.
